  Introduction | June 2016

This project started back in January 2006 with the primary goal to record in photographs Malaysia's fast disappearing pre WW2 built heritage. I love the history of these old buildings, the objects within them and the stories they can tell.

It's a sad fact that so many of these amazing structures in their vast array of different architectural styles, are largely not seen as anything worth saving. Many locations are merely left vacant, abandoned and ultimately demolished. It really has become a race against time to track these places down before they disappear.

I also document modern built structures, my favorite being abandoned shopping malls. Being inside these large structures of retail that are devoid of any human life is strangely fascinating. These types of large abandonments are the result of various financial crisis and developer follies that date as far back as 20 years ago.

In the next 10 years, seeing as how the mistakes and attitudes of the past are perhaps being repeated yet again, we may see another round of abandonments on an even larger scale just on the horizon.
