Planters bungalow
Visit date : 2012
Year of build : 1930's
Current status : Abandoned

This used to be the main managers bungalow on a former rubber estate. These bungalows were typically built on hills with commanding views over the estate all around them. A very tranquil setting back then, sadly now, not so much.

Today the former estate has since been sold off and subdivided up. There’s been much modern development all around pushing housing estates and industry right up to the borders of the old bungalow property. The old workers lines have also been demolished as well as most of the original estates infrastructure.

The bungalow itself seems to be mostly in its original form, retaining some key pieces of furniture probably dating from postwar times. Nobody has lived or used the building since the 1980’s. It looks like a small scale rubber outfit used the house as an office back then. Since that time the house has been left to rot. Piles of old clothes have bizarrely been dumped in many of the rooms.
In the 2nd bedroom a polka dot dress was hung from the ceiling in the centre of the room. A constant draft through the bungalow made the dress flutter about as if it were alive.
