Having researched this location fully before making the 3 hour drive to get here, I was still unsure if access was even going to be possible or not upon arrival. You never know and prepare yourself for whatever awaits. To my relief the main gate was wide open and I drove straight into the old carpark. I knew a maintenance team worked here through the week and could see them lounging in the lobby. I waved and smiled and asked if I could explore the place. The chief man wryly said yes, but perhaps you could buy us all some soft drinks to sweeten the deal. No problem, I said! Soft drinks duly bought my explore could begin in earnest, there was much to see with limited time.

This hotel dates from 1977 and was at the time the only top class beach front resort in the area, boasting 200 rooms and suites. Seeing its layout and location, it must have been an amazing place to stay at in its time. Sadly now, not so much.

The site has been abandoned for probably a couple of decades now. What’s so amazing was that every single room here had stuff still inside them. All the beds, bed side tables, cushions, bed sheets etc, etc, it was all still there! It was near information overload for me and it was tough to be selective in what to capture and what not to waste time with.

Over the next year I paid the location a couple more visits and was surprised to find on my last explore that the owner had put the place up for sale. All of the hotels contents was in the process of being removed and scrapped. It was great while it lasted.
