Visit date : 2008
Current Status: Main villa abandoned and fenced

Relau villa was the 1930's summer get away for Chung Thye Phin, the son of a wealthy tin miner, Chung Keng Quee. The villa was designed by noted Penang architect B.H.Ung, and was probably unique at the time for having its own central fresh water swimming pool. The original grounds of the property were said to have been beautifully landscaped with gardens, orchards and ponds.

Today the site sits somewhat out of place in amongst modern high rise flats and development. There have been some attempts to clean the villa up, including fencing off the main building, but the site still needs some major work if it is to be preserved properly.
